MEHF is a registered not for profit and non-government charitable organization with a mission to provide standard eye health care services to those segments of the society who have only limited access to eye health care due to low income, disability and other limitations; by organizing various screening and medical eye camps across Haryana and neighboring states. On 29/08/2017 foundation was registered as a non-profit organization under section 8 of the companies’ act-2013, Govt. of India. MEHF is classified as a non- government company and is registered at registrar of companies, New-Delhi. MEHF is also registered with NGO DARPAN (NITI Aayog, Govt. of India). The foundation stone of Manthan Eye Healthcare Foundation (MEHF) was laid in early 2013 and formalized in 2017. The name of the foundation amalgamated the core principles of self-less service focused on ‘social welfare’ derived from the Samudra Manthan (lit. churning of the ocean) which is one of the best-known episodes in the Hindu philosophy narrated in the Mahabharata. The Samudra Manthan explains the origin of ‘amrita’ the nectar of immortality a symbol of prosperity with Good Health. With the vision to emerge as an organization par excellence in the field of community eye health care, the MEHF family today has over 1,000 members who are working constantly for promotion of health care activities, to raise awareness about the importance of healthy vision among masses. Till now thousands of people in the community have been screened for eye diseases like Diabetic Retinopathy and Glaucoma. Along with various community outreach camps MEHF has organized numerous school screening camps for the refractive error screening for school going children. Apart from these outreach camps MEHF is actively engaged in celebrating occasions like “World Sight Day”, “World Glaucoma week” and “National corneal donation fortnight” etc. MEHF is active in raising awareness on digital platforms like Face book, Twitter, and Instagram handles. In March 2020, the whole world suffered the hit of Novel COVID-19 pandemic including India and things were completely changed in these uncertain and unprecedented times. During this period complete lockdown was called out and many of our activities like community outreach were completely stopped as per national guidelines but MEHF continued to serve community by providing essential commodities and dry ration food to poor segment of the society in need. The ration was distributed in two districts of Haryana, Gurugram and Sonepat by volunteers in collaboration with other like -minded organization “Adhyatm sadhna seva samiti” taking all due precautions and following the strict rules and guidelines of local district administration. Fulfilling its mission and objective statements MEHF is pledged to continue its activities amidst these new and challenging times with our team of dedicated volunteers ensuring the safety of our community patients as well as our volunteers. We are working on framing new protocols of conducting screening and eye testing using social distancing in a fixed facility set up or mobile vans. More consideration will be now on digital awareness, teaching, academic training of optometrists and research. In this journey for excellence, foundation has received many awards and appreciation for their efforts, recently MEHF has been awarded as the Best healthcare NGO for the year 2019-20 by Late. CDS General Bipin Rawat and Hon’ble state finance minister of India Sh. Anurag Thakur. .

Spiritual and humanitarian principles and ideology have continued to be the guiding strength for the foundation. Revered Saint Dr. Shri Swami Divyanand ji Maharaj "Bhikshu” has been nominated as Hony. Chair of the foundation since its inception. Swami Ji realized the need for better health care services for the underprivileged and initiated a Community Health Awareness Mission called ‘Jan Swasthye Jagran Abhiyan’ way back in 1975.
